One day, a white cat strayed into the doorway of Mr. Yasuhiko Shiragata’s home.
The cat seemed to be deaf.
Mr.Shiragata’s family took the cat in and cared for it with love.
Soon after, a series of fortunate events begin to occur for the Shiragata family.
When Mr. Shiragata fell from the roof into the river flowing beside their house, he was unharmed. Also, the giant globe he made and called “Blue Star of Life”, symbolizing peace and environmental protection, would be displayed in the lobby of the United Nations Disarmament Conference Hall in Geneva, Switzerland.
Five years later, the cat suddenly disappeared.
Where did it go? It was a mystery.
His wife Mrs. Ikue could not forget the adorable sight of the cat standing at their doorway on the day it had appeared and came up with the idea to make a figurine. Ikue crafted the shape of the cat, and her husband Yasuhiko made the mold, and that is how this Lucky Cat was created.
The firing process is special and results in a soft, slightly tinted white color. Ikue meticulously hand-paints each cat’s eyes. She also takes pride in creating the bell decorations for the cats.
One by one, people expressed their desire to have one. Gradually, this cat became popular through word of mouth.
This is because those who received the lucky cat found happiness arriving one after another. It might be the cat’s way of repaying the kind-hearted Shiragatas.
We sincerely hope that this lucky cat brings a touch of happiness to everyone who receives it.
