Ikebana

With the weather finally cooling down, I decided to arrange some flowers—it's been a while! I went with Maki and Celosia, and honestly, flowers just have this amazing way of lifting your spirits, don’t they? I used one of my favorite vases, a piece by modern Tobe ware master Yasuhiko Shiragata from the Hachizui kiln. It has these sharp lines at the top but a soft, rounded body—simple yet so beautiful.

On another note, I got a call from my mom’s care facility today. She’s been feeling some pain around the rib she fractured in May and had a slight fever, about 37.1°C. When I visited her, it was hard seeing her lying in bed, looking so drained. But after spending about an hour chatting and keeping her company, she started feeling better. She sat up, stood, and slowly, that sparkle in her eyes came back.

I joked, “You’ve gotta stay healthy so you can come visit us, see the dog, and help out around the house,” and we shared a little high-five. Before I left, she insisted on walking me to the lounge, which was such a nice moment. Her fever had dropped to 36.6°C, and it felt like things were looking up.

Honestly, family love is the best medicine. I just want to keep seeing her smile forever.
